A bit of a late post on this one. Rob and I decided to make toy boxes for our niece and nephew. He constructed them from his own design and I painted them and sewed a cushion for the top. I also made the niece a crocheted koala. They and their families really liked the toy boxes! I don't think we'll do it again though unless we have children of our own. It was a lot of work and took up way too much space in our little basement suite.

I kind of stopped blogging for a while but I think I'll pick it up again, just to show things I've made.

Here's some recent WIP:

This is a scarf that will take a year to make. Each line records the temperature of one day. You can see the warm streak in January by the yellow-greens.

This one is a pattern I'm developing. Some of it will change but I like the results so far.

And finally, a mystery sock pattern titled Eisern. It's my first time doing stranded knitting (properly, anyway).

Alright, so I started this coat a couple months ago. It is paired with the skirt I posted a while back. In the picture it looks like it's falling apart but that's only because I have yet to sew the sleeves on. I'm actually really close to being done, I just need a day where I feel like sewing again. Doing this, I learned how to understitch. I also have paid very close attention to quality and making sure I iron everything so it turns out as good as I can get it. Normally I'm too lazy for that. I guess that's why it's taking so long.

And this is the doily I've been making for about 2 months or so now. I have about 1/2 a round to go, but since it's so big it takes FOREVER. It'll be so nice when it's blocked though.

I found this pattern on ravelry and I knew I absolutely had to make one of these. I actually finished this over the Christmas break, but couldn't think of someone to give it to, and honestly, I wanted to keep it because I love cute plush toys. I want to make some more.

I think I made it better though. The original calls for a bobble kind of nose on the top (a la Rudolf) which looks stupid to me so I embroidered a more natural nose. Which is still a little off but I think it's cute anyway.

Sometimes I just want to make hats. They're fast and easy.

Pink and White convertible hat
I found this pattern in crochet form from April Draven (look in my links, I'm lazy for now), but I wanted to knit so I converted it into knit form. I might post the pattern later. It's pretty simple.

And what's this? Another creature? We'll see. I may not ever finish it, poor little guy.

So I've come a long way on this stocking in the six months I've been working on it, but I think this is where it will end for now. It needs a name for me to finish it further.

A blanket. Or, the beginning of a blanket. OOooh, aaaah.

And now, for some wintery pictures I took recently:

I made this guy on a whim. The pattern was for a lamb, but because of the colours and the modifications I made it looks like a random creature. I used a yarn called "baby monkey" (very very soft) that I got 90% off from a yarn store, and $1 yarn from the dollar store.

Since they moved to a darn cold place, I figured Andrew and Jenna could use some warm things, so, thick warm crocheted scarf for Jenna! Just hdc all the way. Modelled by the ever so cute Jerry.

I felt like making a hat, so... I made a hat. I think it's cute. Pattern from April Draven. Crocheted using blue Red Heart eco-yarn recycled yarn (so soft!) and white Bernat alpaca yarn. It was going to only be blue, but I ran out just before finishing, so I chose white, and embroidered it to blend in.

I like trying to make new things, and one day I was inspired to make something using a steel crochet hook and fine thread. So I made a doily. Doilies are quite nice, actually. I think this one's going to my grandma for Christmas. Made using this pattern. Please excuse the threads sticking out, I haven't quite yet figured out how to weave those in without ruining the design.
