Cross-stitch Stockings
I've been working on these for a couple of years now. They're almost finished, just a bit of backstitching to do. Then I can go back to working on my cross-stitched tulips for a change.

Dragon Sculpture
A while back I sculpted a dragon. This was a lot of work. I spent easily 24 hours on it, and it still isn't the greatest. Apparently it could use a good sanding.I first constructed a very simple wire frame upon which I stuck wadded-up tinfoil. Then I added the polymer clay and sculpted from there. The head I had already sculpted entirely from polymer clay. I got a bit tired of it once I got to the feet so they have very little detail. I think next time I'd make them entirely from clay and not try to sculpt them into clay-wrapped foil.
Perhaps it's not the type of dragon usually seen, but it came out precisely how I draw them, so I was pretty happy with it. It is not finished; I'm in the process of painting it, though I need a bit of help from my husband. He's used to painting 3D objects and I just don't know where to put the shadows and highlights and make them look right.

Project updates
Alright, so I started this coat a couple months ago. It is paired with the skirt I posted a while back. In the picture it looks like it's falling apart but that's only because I have yet to sew the sleeves on. I'm actually really close to being done, I just need a day where I feel like sewing again. Doing this, I learned how to understitch. I also have paid very close attention to quality and making sure I iron everything so it turns out as good as I can get it. Normally I'm too lazy for that. I guess that's why it's taking so long.
And this is the doily I've been making for about 2 months or so now. I have about 1/2 a round to go, but since it's so big it takes FOREVER. It'll be so nice when it's blocked though.
Meadery
Part of my craft room has now been devoted to brewing mead. It's not my project, but R's. The first batch has been bottled and is now aging. Here's a couple pictures of the next batches. Mead is made, at its simplest, from the fermentation of honey. Other things can be added to it like fruit and spices to make different kinds. The latest is blueberry.
WIPs for April
I haven't actually started much lately, since I've had so many things on the go. Here's a few of the in progress projects:
Steampunk-inspired dress
I love making random things, especially dresses. I'm not quite sure why I decided to make this, other than I thought it looked neat. It's a green dress made up of a skirt, bustier, and coat. It's simplicity pattern #2172. I chose a dark and light green broadcloth for the skirt and coat. I started with the skirt, thinking it would be the easiest, but I was wrong. Those pleats... pleats are the devil, especially when you have to do like 9 meters of them.

I finished the skirt and I'm pleased with how it turned out. It's even the correct length even though I did not alter it to be shorter!

I started the coat and got to the point where all the outer pieces were together aside from the sleeves, and that's where I am at the moment. I want to work more on it but I'm sick so it will have to wait. I haven't even bought the cloth for the bustier or ruffles yet. Not sure what would go with it.

A lesson in colours?
So to continue my soap adventures... today I unmolded the soap and cut it into bars. I was quite surprised to see that the soap had turned purple. Yes, apparently blue + yellow = purple. Who knew! It's unscented though, so unfortunately the smelly stuff I put in did not work. But the colours worked, just not how they were supposed to.
Now, to let the bars cure for about a month. Then comes testing, if I'm not too afraid of what the lye has done to the dye.
Crafts of late...

I found this pattern in crochet form from April Draven (look in my links, I'm lazy for now), but I wanted to knit so I converted it into knit form. I might post the pattern later. It's pretty simple.
Slouchy Crochet Hat
Just a random crochet hat. It's a bit big.
And what's this? Another creature? We'll see. I may not ever finish it, poor little guy.
Works In Progress
So I've come a long way on this stocking in the six months I've been working on it, but I think this is where it will end for now. It needs a name for me to finish it further.
A blanket. Or, the beginning of a blanket. OOooh, aaaah.

Egyptian Falcon
Finished! It didn't take me that long, probably because I did some every day. I like it, but I'm not quite sure what to do with it now. Maybe I'll make a pillow out of it.

Should be done soon, just need to put the eyes and arms on! I'm so excited about this one.
New cross-stitch project
A little while ago I needed something to do while at my parents' house, so my mom handed me a stocking to cross-stitch. Originally it was to be for my brother, but it has since been relegated to my future spouse. This may be bad luck, though I can't finish it until I have a name to put on it. At any rate, it's an interesting design that I quite like.
Guardian Angel XStitch
My mom bought me a beautiful cross stitch to do when I was about 13. I did some of it then, but gave up after I started getting interested in other things. Now I am finally doing it again! Here's what I've done so far:
The original colours were somewhat different. I believe it was changed to blue because it would match my room at the time. Ah well. I still like it. I just need some more gold thread and then I'll be able to finish it.
DRAGON!
He's got a body and arms! Progress is going slow, but well. I've designed the wing, I just need to make another and stitch them on.
What I'm working on...
After seeing all sorts of cute amigurumi things, I decided to make an amigurumi dragon! Of course I'm not as well-versed in crochet as knitting, so instead of crocheting, I'm knitting it!Here's a preview:
I've only got the head (minus the eyes, which are still in the mail) and most of the body done so far, and work on this project has been postponed because I've come down with a cold (though this hasn't hampered my ability to be on the computer).
I can't wait to get this done! It's going to be awesome. I'm thinking of either selling customised versions or the pattern, because I think people are going to want this.
